If we deside to belive every word of Griffen then Ranjeet Singh was not son of Mahan Singh and even Mahan Singh was not a son of Charat Singh if we go by Griffen the whole line of Sikh Kings is a bunch of bastards.Well we should put some logic son of a bhishti(Water Carrier) can not be so handsome and manly to impress even Queen Victoria

Sir Lepel Griffin in his book RANJIT SINGH AND THE SIKH BARRIER BETWEEN OUR GROWING EMPIRE, published in 1890, also states a water carrier of the Zenana named Gulu as the reputed father of Duleep SIngh. but this may all be a British conspiracy of the time to tarnish the Rani.
