Well, when he died obviously his children had custody of the body and all children were following the religion their parents thought them. So to put the soul at peace one don't think what ceremony should be followed. Also his "Will" quite clearly stated his intention after his death.Only human species follow all this myth what about all other species on the planet? He was given good farewell and that counts. we should let his soul be at rest and should not be disturbed. At least large Indian community in England has somebody to pay their respect as Maharajah of Punjab. This is my personal views. Devshi Karavadra

Respected Sir,
I think as because in his last days MAHARAJA DUKEEP SINGH became Sikh,Maharajah Duleep Singh died as a Sikh, then his body should not have been buried, but it should be cremated ,but this is also a fact that in those days it was very difficult to bring his body back to INDIA.

But his wishes in his Last Will & Testament are quite clear ; he wanted to be buried. You are attempting to appropriate him in your beliefs. He clearly didnt have these views.

It's amazing that we feel comfortable in the fact that people coming to earn their livelihood in Punjab have have adopted the culture, language and religous values. We don't feel awkward that they kind of moved away from their cultural or religous values. Then why do we feel so awkward about it when our kids come to these western countries and adopt the culture and values of the land where they live now or are born in. Doesn't it sound like a double-standard? Being pure (Khalis) at heart defines a Sikh, actually any human being, more than anything else. With members of almost every family we know now living in the diaspora, it's good to know we are in good hands in the trustworthy lineage of Guru Gobind Rai ... Gobind Singh!
